OSTERIA DEL TRENO

Our wedding reception will be held at Osteria del Treno from 17:30, right after our civil ceremony. To reach the venue from Piazza Duomo you can either take a taxi or the yellow metro line and get off in Repubblica station.

The story of the Sala Liberty at Osteria del Treno begins long ago. In 1898, at Via San Gregorio 46, the monumental hall of Milan’s Railway Workers’ House was established. The architectural features of the hall, designed by Engineer Italo Gasparetti, are a rare example of late 19th-century social architecture and a precursor to the Art Nouveau style. The iron supporting structure becomes both a design element and an ornament, decorating the space with elegance. The Sala Liberty has been at the center of unique historical, political, and social events. Within these walls, one can still imagine the echoes of fiery union meetings, grand ballroom dances, theatrical performances, and the celebrations of early 20th-century Milan. Today, it continues to host the diverse soul of the city, welcoming all who pass through Milan, honoring the city’s enduring tradition of hospitality. The high ceiling features a prestigious work of art: Trittico del Lavoro Redento (1898), one of Milan’s most important examples of social art. Painted in oil on canvas, it was conceived by Giuseppe Mentessi, a painter and professor at Milan's Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, who entrusted its execution to his students (Antonio Rizzi, Innocente Cantinotti, Guido Zuccaro, Alfonso Quarantelli). The red, pearl-flecked graniglia flooring and oak furnishings recall the ambiance of Parisian ballrooms from the Belle Époque.

When it came to choosing a venue, we wanted something that reflected our personalities and our love for history, art, and meaningful buildings. The Sala Liberty at Osteria del Treno is a hidden gem that perfectly captures all of that: a place steeped in Milanese history, with beautiful Art Nouveau details, and an inviting, easy-going atmosphere.

Last but not least, if you're as passionate about travel and food as we are, you’ll probably remember the episode of Stanley Tucci’s Searching for Italy in Milan. Stanley spent an evening at Osteria del Treno, dining and listening to traditional Milanese live music.
